Rush Limbaugh is a conservative talk radio host in the United States with over 20,000,000 listeners a week, making his program the single most watched or listened to source of news in the USA. Not surprisingly, Rush Limbaugh is demonized by the mainstream media as a right-wing extremist. For his listeners, however, he is a breath of fresh air. One constant desire on the part of the Left in America is to come up with a counterpart, the liberal Rush Limbaugh. Attempts have been made on the Left to do this, but no one has succeeded. Yet on the Right, numerous radio talk show hosts have repeated Rush’s success (e.g., Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham). Why is this?

Obama and the Culture of Death?
Peter Dunn posted this quote from Miguel Guaniba in the American Thinker:
By Obama’s own reckoning, the heroic efforts of those who have bravely stood in defense of innocent human life in the womb — and long endured ridicule from the press for their dissenting views — have been reduced to nothing more than pointless efforts to engage in what is ultimately a “stale and fruitless debate”. The unimaginable grief and discord this issue has wrought upon countless lives and relationships at home and abroad have been reduced to nothing more than “petty grievances”. The devout religious convictions of those who have nurtured an abiding compassion and unwavering fidelity to the fundamental principle that every human life is endowed with inviolable dignity and inestimable worth by the creator of all life, barely rise to the status of “worn out dogmas”.
With the magic stroke of his executive pen, Obama has declared his intentions that no ground will be given and no prisoners spared.
Dunn’s posting was intended to show how Miguel Guanipa “eloquently critiques Obama statements about his rescinding of the Bush abortions funding policy,” saying that ”Obama is not the unifier that his campaign claimed.” It is not my role to decide whether the president is successful in unifying his country. Rather I seize the opportunity to reflect on an issue in American Christianity that is troubling to me, that is, an apparent confusion between church life and politics. I wonder if as a church we are mistaken regarding the nature and means of our combat when it comes to abortion.

Miscellany: Abortion, Global Warming Hits United Arab Emirates, and Tax Evasion (updated)
“Obama and The Culture of death” by Miguel Guanipa, eloquently critiques Obama statements about his rescinding of the Bush abortions funding policy: Obama is not the unifier that his campaign claimed:

Global Warming
Some scientists have said it’s too late to save the planet from global warming (e.g., here and here). If so, shouldn’t we eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die?

Obama: Inauguration Day
I received an e-mail today from Africa, and this is the way I was greeted: “Reçois mes fraternelles salutations en Christ. En ce jour de l’investiture d’Obama comme président noir américain, je crois que vous vous portez bien dans la grande famille de Barnabas venture.” I suppose that many of my African friends believe that it is a momentous and historic occasion that son of their own soil is becoming today the most powerful man in the world. Let me just say a few words of caution.
Obama is a man. His father is a Luo and a Muslim from Kenya, his mother a white America. His political roots are socialist and communist. Regarding social values, he favors abortion and homosexual unions, just as Democrat Party platform dictates. As a Christian, I have trouble with the social values of the Democrat Party. As an investor, I am very wary of Obama’s political and economic agenda. We can start with the plan to more than double the deficit to over a trillion dollars. This will give Obama additional spending power of 8.3% of the USA GDP.

Obama and inflation in Zimbabwe
I’ve joked with people that because the Obama stimulus will lead to inflation, soon enough the US will become like Zimbabwe: every time we do a print run of our currency, we’ll have to add three zeros. Zimbabwe now has a 100 trillion dollar note.

Now some major players are recommending that people abandon the US dollar for other investments. From Bloomberg:
Jim Rogers, chairman of Singapore- based Rogers Holdings, said investors should be “worried” about the U.S. dollar, and recommended selling government bonds and buying raw materials, China stocks and the yen. “If I were you, I would be worried about the U.S. dollar,” said Rogers, 66, in a speech at the Asia Financial Forum in Hong Kong today. “The Americans are printing U.S. dollars. The Americans are going to do whatever they can to revive their economy, even if it means destroying the U.S. dollar.”
